Belvedere and trekking are two distinct experiences. Trekking requires specific planning; the panoramic visit follows another logistics.
How to live it.
Choose carefully the side of the canyon and the base. Hobas and Fish River Lodge are not interchangeable. Lüderitz is a further southern stage, to be planned separately.
On the field.
You don't need to go down into the canyon to feel its scale. You need to choose the way to meet him that makes sense for you.
Looking from above is not trekking
NWR manages visits and activities in the area. The trek has specific programming and requirements: it is not a walk automatically accessible from the atlas pin.

Fish River Lodge looks like a structure on the edge of the canyon; Hobas is the NWR base in the lookout area. The location of the stay changes the logistics, to be verified on the actual itinerary.

The Redland guide connects the tale of the south, not the accesses of the two destinations. The editorial map does not provide driving times: the program is built on the actual roads and stops.

The national calendar is only a guideline. For activities and access in the south, it is not enough to automatically extend the conditions of the northern circuit.
